Roof installation is nearing completion for both the north and the south buildings. Structural steel installation for the Big Dig Archaeology Education centre is largely complete. Work continues on service installations, flooring, internal partitions and external cladding. Installation of the bridge connecting the two hostel buildings will commence in the near future.

The south building is now roofed and installation of the external cladding has commenced. The structure of the north building is almost complete and roofing should be complete in the near future. Work is progressing on the internal partitions, flooring and service installations.
The enclosure for the simulated dig in the Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre is almost complete. Installation of the structure for the Big Dig will commence in the week starting 16th March 2009.

Work is steadily progressing with the structure of the south building complete and the north building nearing completion. Installation of flooring, internal partitions and services continues. Roofing work will commence in the near future. The suspended concrete slab for the retail area has been poured.
The footings for the Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre are complete and the installation of the structural steel for this building will commence in the near future. Brickwork for the simulated dig has commenced.

The removal of the smaller crane scheduled for the 16th February 2009 was cancelled as a result of inclement weather. The builders have re-scheduled this operation for Monday 23rd February 2009. This will require a mobile crane to be set up in Gloucester Street. This crane will require the full width of the street throughout the operation. Prior to 5am on February 23rd, the street will need to be clear of all parked vehicles. The street will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 5am to 5pm on this day. Security guards will be arranged to assist residents as required. Built and YHA apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate the co-operation of residents and workers in the area throughout this operation.

The removal of the smaller crane on the 16th February 2009 was cancelled as a result of inclement weather. The builders will reschedule this operation for a later date and will notify nearby residents and businesses by mail of the proposed date.

The installation of structural steel has reached level 3 for the south building and parts of the north building of the new YHA. Flooring and internal partitions are currently being installed. Work will soon commence on the Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre.

The installation of the structural steel is progressing well and should reach level 3 by the end of the year.
YHA would like to thank our neighbours for their patience and understanding throughout the construction of Sydney Harbour YHA and The Big Dig Archaeology Education Centre during 2008. Activity on the site will be reduced over the Christmas and New Year period, starting up in full swing again on the 5th January, 2009.

The lift shaft has now been completed. Installation of the structural steel and the establishment of the perimeter scaffolding will continue over coming weeks.

This week further structural steel will be delivered to the site and installed. The installation of footings will continue and will be accompanied by short bursts of noise from drilling and anchoring to the bedrock. The installation of perimeter scaffolding will continue.
